The Black Lotus

The lotus flower is associated with patience, mysticism, self-awareness, enlightenment, purity, and an emptiness of sin, among many other things. Most of all, however, it is known as the symbol of rebirth. A black lotus inverts these meanings. A rebellion against all that is ordinary, aggression directed towards everything that is sacred. Death that comes at the end.Even from this dark origins, however, the flower still blooms. Rebirth is still possible.The Black Lotus offers an immersive roleplaying experience. Our goal here is to encourage roleplay and to facilitate the exploration of character stories. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged to come cross the threshold.

  • We are an immersive roleplay venue. This means that we highly encourage /say chat roleplay and will engage others in such a manner.

  • We allow 18+ content to be discussed, but not played out. While things such as sex, drugs, and possibly even rock & roll may be covered as conversational topics we do not endorse, nor tolerate, active ERP or the killing of another character on venue premises during operating hours. This includes sitting in laps and heavy petting while on venue premises.

  • We ask that you dismiss your minions and hide your weapons while in the cafe. If you do not, we will ask that you do so or leave the premises. There will be exceptions to this such as courel kittens and other such minions. This exception will also extend to regulars who are trusted with their weapons to keep them while on site rather than leaving them by the door. This weapon rule does not apply to the downstairs training area.

  • Please do not emote spam, it clutters the chat and makes roleplay difficult to follow, instead use /em to do custom emotes along with speech or other such roundabout methods.

  • Payment works by a pay what you want to system. We will never ask you for money.

  • We reserve the right to ask any and all characters, or players, to leave for any reason.

  • The venue is open to be used for scenes during off-operation hours, we ask that you inform the host through discord or /tells if you're going to do this just to give them a heads up.

Training Dojo and Arena:
The Black Lotus offers a training area and dueling arena in the basement of the establishment. However these services are only available when the doors are open in the downstairs area, and only when a healer is on site and able to oversee. This is enforced by the Fae hidden throughout the venue.Medicinal Baths and Infirmary:
Downstairs also offers a medicinal bath and medical treatment area. The baths are not open to general usage unless someone is injured. This will be enforced.Private Rooms:
The Black Lotus offers upstairs private rooms. These rooms are warded against spying and could be considered, when occupants are within the room, to be entirely closed off worlds. No sound escapes them, and nothing but the staff can penetrate the defensive wards. These rooms are explicitly for people wishing to have private conversations, and not for regular member usage.

Ianthe Vihrea
The owner of Black Lotus. A self described dumbass she is rather straightforward and intense at times, but her heart is big and she is always ready to jump to help people in need.
Said to be rather strange by many, her lack of any aether or dynamis leaves many confused or wondering. Even more when they ask her about it...

Almissious Mors
"Goblin Mode" given physical form, Almissious is often full of good cheer and high spirits. Deeply egalitarian and staunchly steeped in her moral views she is one to hold conversations both about philosophy and the amount of cheese one can stack on someone's head. A talented artist as well, she often sketches the patrons who come into the establishment.

Alyras Wythen
A new friend of Ianthe and Almi's. A scholar steeped in mystery and a very deep past who now offers his medical knowledge and healing arts from time to time to make sure that those who use the training area downstairs are never in danger of loss of life.
Sagacious and Enigmatic are the two words that describe this man more than any other, and he always has poignant commentary to offer.
